Season 2022 – a quick overview…

On August 22-26, 2022, the 1st annual event called the Summer School of Archeology at Zemplín Castle took place in the village of Zemplín (Trebišov district).

In its format, it is a set of various professional indoor and outdoor activities aimed at promoting archeology and the region. Specifically, its main goal is the archaeological research of the medieval Zemplín castle, its presentation and promotion among the professional and lay public. Another goal is, through this research, the presentation and promotion of the archaeological cultural heritage of the surrounding region “Lower Zemplín” in the south-eastern part of the Slovak Republic, as well as archeology as a science and its results. The educational dimension of the summer school in the form of professional lectures and excursions serves this purpose. The summer school was created in cooperation with several institutions, organizations and individuals, in particular: Zemplín Municipality, Pamiatkový úrad SR, TUKE, Archeoconsult, s. r. o., Muzeum Krakow, Polish Academy of Sciences, East Slovak Museum Košice, STU Bratislava, and others
